ICLEI South Asia
ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability, South Asia (ICLEI South Asia), the South Asia Secretariat of the global entity, is a not-for-profit organization located in Delhi and has been operational in India since 2005. ICLEI South Asia is presently supporting more than 80 Indian cities and over 15 other cities in the South Asian region on sustainable urban development, climate action planning, monitoring, reporting, financing and evaluation. It has experience in working with 28 cities and 14 provinces in the IMT-GT region. ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability, with 24 offices globally, works with more than 2500 local and regional governments and is active in 125+ countries, impacting over 25% of the global population and is committed to furthering sustainability policy and driving local action for low emission, nature-based, equitable, resilient and circular development. In South Asia and Southeast Asia, ICLEI engages with a membership of over 150 cities. ICLEI South Asia provides consultative and advisory services by providing technical expertise, delivering trainings, facilitating networking and city-to-city exchanges, carrying out research, supporting cities to identify, design and implement quality sustainable infrastructure projects, implementing demonstration projects and developing products and services that support low carbon climate resilient development. ICLEI South Asia has proven expertise in preparing GHG emissions inventories in over 70 cities in Asia, climate action plans (adaptation & mitigation) for over 15 cities, state level and local policies related to renewable energy/energy efficiency (RE/EE) in over 20 cities and in implementing demonstration projects addressing climate change adaptation and mitigation in all municipal sectors in over 20 cities in South and Southeast Asia.
