IMT-GT Joint Business Council
The IMT-GT Joint Business Council (JBC) is registered as a non-government organization in Malaysia, constituted for constituted to enable private sector engagement and investment in projects that contribute to overall sustainable development in Malaysia. The JBC was established by the National Government of Malaysia as a part of its commitment to drive the growth of the private sector in Malaysia and the IMT-GT subregion. The role of the JBC is to foster green growth in the country by promoting private sector participation in the IMT-GT; all provinces in Peninsular Malaysia are members of IMT-GT today.
The JBC acts as the focal point of the private sector in the IMT-GT region with a clear mission of encouraging the private sector to pursue trade and investment opportunities created by Vision 2036 of the IMT-GT. JBC members and partners include Chief Ministers’ Offices, State Secretaries’ Offices, State Planning Agencies, State Government Linked Companies (GLCs), local universities, as well as the Cities. JBC members are key implementers of projects identified in the IMT-GT Vision 2036. JBC engages in a regular dialogue with various official groups of the IMT-GT such as the Working Groups, National Secretariats, Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) and Ministerial Meeting (MM) to ensure issues and challenges related to the implementation of Vision 2036 are properly and promptly dealt with.
